Icon Analysis

When I set out to analyze some icons I wanted to be sure to choose some polar opposites. Therefore, I choose Justin Bieber, Eminem, and President Obama. All three of these gentlemen are well-known icons of the last 20 years.

Justin Bieber rose to stardom through his music on Youtube with the help of Usher. His story started as a classic American dream and turned into classic bad boy star gone wild. Seeing Justin grow up over the years has been incredible. Like any teen, he makes mistakes, causes problems and has brushes with the law. What's different about Justin is that he's a mega-star with a camera on him everywhere he goes. How would you feel if you had that life? I admire Justin in many ways, I would simply just crack.



Eminem, real name Marshal Mathers is known for his vulgar and

absurd lyrics. Also a musician like Justin he had the spotlight at many times for all of the wrong reasons. Eminem has a genius way of rhymes words that can't possible rhyme. Much like Justin he also did a lot of growing up in the public's eye over his career. His music has changed from incredibly vulgar and hateful to more greatful and uplifting. I've listened to his music as long as I can remember. His lyrics helped me through some incredibly tough times.

Finally, current President of the United States of America Barrack Obama. President Obama is the first African-American president in the United States of America. President Obama has always gone through some serious changes in the short 8 years as president. We've seen him grow into his role, fail miserably at some of his biggest goals, and triumph over others. I admire his raw emotion and genuine speeches and look up to his dream get-er-done attitude.
